First Principles

  1. There are innumerable healths. // Everything unconditional belongs in pathology.
  2. One thinks of the group, and then one thinks no more. // E pluribus unem.
  3. First do no harm. // Innocent until proven guilty. // The beginning is from God.
  4. The healthiest and most promising fruits of the intellect are also those which are the last to ripen. // The question conditions the answer, and vice versa.
  5. It’s all about the body. // The body is a mnemonic.
  6. Selection for strength, health, power, not against weakness, disease, stasis.
  7. The shadow of being is its true reflection, and the best starting point for a science.
  8. One may only ever enjoy the use of a thing, never the thing itself.
  9. The day and the year are incommensurable. // A day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years is like a day.
  10. If I have lost my way, it is because I have found my calling. // Know thyself. // Heal thyself.
  11. History is biography.
  12. The most dangerous thing for a man to know is that he is sovereign.
  13. Whether God exists or not is a philosophical question, the answer to which both is and is not philosophy.
  14. The unity of the word does not guarantee the unity of the thing.
